Samuel looked away.
“No.”
“Then what happened?”
Samuel handed him a photograph.
It showed Mara standing outside a laboratory.
Behind her was a black car.
Noah recognized it.
The same type of car that had followed him.
Samuel spoke quietly.
“She was not killed because she knew too much.”
Noah stared at him.
“Then why?”
“Because she had something.”
“What?”
Samuel looked directly at him.
“The original research.”
Noah felt cold.
