Chapter 25 - THE THIRTY-SEVEN NAMESThe list contained thirty-seven names.
The first belonged to a boy in Argentina.
The second to a girl in Poland.
The third to a child in Canada.
They were not all dead.
Some were alive.
Some were still receiving treatment.
Some had been told that their medical records had been destroyed.
But the truth was now in Noah’s hands.
The police wanted the list.
So did the government.
So did several international organizations.
Richard wanted to release everything publicly.
Catherine stopped him.
“Not yet.”
Richard looked at her.
“Why?”
“Because these children are not evidence.”
She pointed toward the list.
“They are people.”
Noah agreed.
Before exposing the company, they needed to find the survivors.
They needed to protect them.
They needed to give them a choice.
So Noah began making calls.
The first family answered.
A woman picked up.
Noah said:
“My name is Noah.”
The woman was silent.
Then she asked:
“Are you from Vale Biomechanics?”
“No.”
“Then why are you calling?”
