Chapter 21 - THE ROOM NOAH CHOSENoah did not choose the largest room in the Vale mansion.

He chose the smallest one.
It had a narrow window overlooking the garden and a wooden desk that had clearly not been used in years.
Catherine offered to redecorate it.
Noah shook his head.
“I like it this way.”
Richard stood outside the doorway.
He had not entered.
For the first time in his life, the billionaire seemed uncertain about crossing a threshold.
Noah looked at him.
“You can come in.”
Richard stepped inside.
The room was almost empty.
There was a bed.
A desk.
A lamp.
And a small box containing Noah’s few belongings.
Richard looked at the box.
“That’s everything?”
Noah nodded.
Richard swallowed.
“I can buy you anything you want.”
Noah looked at him.
“I know.”
The answer hurt more than anger.
Richard nodded slowly.
Then he noticed a photograph on the desk.
It showed Noah’s mother.
Mara.
Richard stared at the image.
“I loved her once.”
Noah’s expression remained guarded.
“Did you love her enough to find her?”
Richard had no answer.
Noah turned away.
“Then don’t tell me you loved her.”
May you like
Richard left the room in silence.
For the first time, money had failed to buy him a single word.
