An elderly doctor contacted the center.
His name was Dr. Henry Lawson.
He had been listed as dead for fifteen years.
But he was alive.
He had been hiding in a remote town.
When Noah met him, the doctor immediately recognized the photograph.
“The Four Star Project.”
Noah sat down.
“Tell me what it was.”
Dr. Lawson explained that the project had not been created to experiment on the children.
It had been created to develop a treatment for severe neurological damage.
The four children shared a rare genetic ability.
Their bodies could repair damaged neural connections faster than normal.
But the project had a second purpose.
A secret purpose.
The same genetic marker could potentially be used to reverse damage caused by experimental treatments.
Including the treatment forced on Ethan and Eliza.
Noah stared at him.
“So we were the cure.”
Dr. Lawson shook his head.
“No.”
