Chapter 47 - THE WOMAN WHO KNEW MARAElena lived alone in a small house.

She was old.
But her memory was sharp.
When Noah showed her Mara's photograph, Elena began to cry.
“She looked just like you.”
Noah sat across from her.
“Why didn't she tell me about the White Star?”
“Because she wanted you to have a normal childhood.”
Noah almost laughed.
“A normal childhood?”
Elena looked down.
“She tried.”
Noah was silent.
Then Elena handed him a small envelope.
Mara had left it for him.
Inside was a photograph.
Mara.
Samuel.
And another man.
Richard.
All three were standing together.
Noah stared at the image.
“Why was my father with them?”
Elena answered:
“Because once, before the money, before the company, before the lies…”
She paused.
“Richard wanted to help people.”
Noah looked at the photograph.
