Chapter 48 - THE CHOICE TO FORGIVENoah did not forgive Richard immediately.

Forgiveness was not a switch.
It did not erase pain.
It did not make the past disappear.
But one day, Noah found Richard sitting alone in the garden.
Richard looked older.
Smaller.
Almost human.
Noah sat beside him.
Richard did not speak.
Neither did Noah.
They sat in silence for several minutes.
Finally, Richard said:
“I don't expect you to forgive me.”
Noah nodded.
“Good.”
Richard almost smiled.
Noah looked at him.
“But I don't want to hate you forever.”
Richard turned toward him.
“Why?”
“Because I already lost enough.”
Richard looked away.
Noah continued.
“I don't want to lose more years being angry.”
Richard wiped his eyes.
“I don't deserve you.”
“No.”
Noah paused.
“But maybe you can become someone who does.”
Richard nodded.
That was not forgiveness.
May you like
Not yet.
But it was a beginning.
