The Trap In The Bathroom / Chapter 9 / 50

Chapter 9 - The Woman Who Never DiedMark refused to believe it.

“That's impossible.”

Ethan placed another photograph on the table.

It had been taken two months earlier.

A woman with silver-grey hair stood outside a private medical facility.

Mark stared at the image.

He knew that face.

His mother.

Older.

But alive.

Arthur sat down heavily.

“Dear God.”

Sarah whispered:

“Why would she fake her death?”

Ethan answered:

“Because someone was coming for her.”

“Who?”

“Clara.”

Mark's eyes widened.

Ethan explained that Clara had discovered the foundation's hidden accounts.

She had been preparing to expose them.

But someone warned her.

Then Victoria entered the picture.

Victoria wasn't the mastermind.

She was recruited because she was vulnerable, ambitious, and willing to do almost anything for money.

Mark slowly understood.

“Victoria was disposable.”

Ethan nodded.

“Exactly.”

“Then my mother used her to kill Clara.”

“Yes.”

Mark stared at the photograph.

“What does she want now?”

Ethan's expression darkened.

“The trust.”

Mark frowned.

“Lily's trust?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“Because Clara moved the final assets into Lily's name before she died.”

Ethan looked at Lily.

“She is the last obstacle between your mother and everything she spent twenty years building.”

Lily looked up.

“Why does Grandma want my money?”

Mark immediately pulled her close.

“She doesn't.”

Ethan shook his head.

“She wants more than money.”

“What?”

“The family company.”

Mark's phone suddenly rang.

Detective Miller.

Mark answered.

Miller's voice was urgent.

“Mark, we have a problem.”

May you like

“What?”

“Victoria just escaped custody.”
