Chapter 34 - Phase TwoClara had been investigating the Vance Foundation before she met Mark.

But the evidence suggested the marriage itself had been part of someone's plan.
Mark refused to believe it.
“She loved me.”
“She did,” Rebecca said.
“But someone may have wanted access to you through her.”
Ethan discovered another document.
A private intelligence report.
It listed Mark's assets.
His habits.
His vulnerabilities.
And his relationship with Clara.
At the bottom:
Marriage approved.
Mark stared.
“Who approved it?”
Ethan answered:
“The Seven.”
Mark's phone rang.
Detective Miller.
“Mark, we found something in Clara's toxicology.”
“What?”
“The original report was altered.”
Mark froze.
“Altered how?”
“The digitalis concentration was much higher than originally reported.”
“How much higher?”
Miller paused.
“Enough to prove deliberate poisoning.”
Mark closed his eyes.
Clara's death had officially become murder.
But then Miller added:
“There is another compound.”
May you like
“What compound?”
“A sedative.”
