Chapter 23 - The Secret VisitsNoah revealed that Victoria had visited him several times.
She had pretended to be a social worker.
She asked questions about Clara.
About Mark.
About Lily.
And about Noah's inheritance.
But there was something else.
Noah had kept a notebook.
Inside were dates.
Names.
And one repeated phrase:
Project Phoenix.
Rebecca recognized it.
“That was Clara's code name for the investigation.”
Mark looked at her.
“What investigation?”
Rebecca opened the notebook.
“Clara wasn't only investigating her own murder.”
“She was investigating the entire Vance Foundation.”
Noah handed Mark another page.
It contained a list of names.
At the top was:
Eleanor Vance.
At the bottom:
Mark Vance.
Mark stared.
“Why am I on this list?”
May you like
Rebecca answered:
“Because Clara suspected someone wanted you dead too.”
