Chapter 47 - Arthur's ChoiceArthur admitted everything.
He had been the original seventh member.
But he had betrayed the organization years earlier.
He secretly helped Clara.
He helped Ethan escape.
He protected Sarah.
He helped create Lily's trust.
He wasn't the mastermind.
He had been trying to undo the damage.
Mark looked at him.
“Why didn't you tell me?”
Arthur answered:
“Because Clara made me promise.”
Mark sighed.
“You kept too many promises.”
Arthur smiled sadly.
“That's what lawyers do.”
Then police entered.
Detective Miller carried a warrant.
“Arthur Vance, you're under arrest.”
Mark stood.
“Why?”
Miller looked at him.
“Because Arthur didn't just protect Clara.”
He placed a file on the table.
“He helped conceal the original evidence in your father's murder.”

Arthur closed his eyes.
“I know.”
