Chapter 10 - DAVID’S LAST PHONE CALLMy brother called at 2:17 a.m.

His voice was shaking.
“You found the warehouse.”
“Yes.”
“Then they know.”
“Who?”
“The people behind Preston.”
I sat in my car outside the police station.
“Tell me everything.”
David breathed heavily.
“Preston found out about the trust months ago.”
“How?”
“From Dad.”
I closed my eyes.
My father had given Preston the information.
“Why?”
“Because Dad believed the trust belonged to the family.”
“And Preston?”
“He wanted control.”
“Where are you?”
David was silent.
Then he said:
“I made a mistake.”
“What did you do?”
“I gave them the location of the second key.”
My heart stopped.
“Where is it?”
David whispered:
“Your mother’s house.”
The call suddenly ended.
I called again.
No answer.
Then a message appeared.
DON’T COME LOOKING FOR ME.
