The armed men surrounded the room.
Victor stepped forward.
“No one touches her.”
A man in a gray suit entered.
Maya recognized him.
He was the hospital director.
The same man who had signed Liam’s medical records.
He looked at Maya.
“Your mother left you an inheritance.”
“I don’t want it.”
“You do not understand.”
He opened the drive.
A bank account appeared.
The amount was enormous.
But Maya did not care about the money.
“What did she leave me?”
The man answered.
“Control.”
Over companies.
Over properties.
Over accounts.
Over the Circle itself.
Maya stared.
Her biological mother had built an empire in secret.
And every person in the room had been fighting over it.
The man extended his hand.
“Sign the documents, and we leave you alone.”
Maya looked at Elizabeth.
Her adoptive mother was still bleeding.
Then she looked at Samuel.
At Lucas.
At Daniel.
At Victor.
Every person had lied to her.
Maya smiled.
“I have a better idea.”
She picked up the laptop.
And connected the drive to the hospital network.
Every file began uploading.
To every journalist.
Every police department.
Every news station.
The man in the gray suit turned pale.
“What have you done?”
Maya looked at him.
“I stopped keeping secrets.”
