Chapter 9 - CLARA’S DEFENCE
Ethan and Eleanor both turned toward the bed as Clara slowly opened her blue eyes.
"Clara! Oh, my sweet girl!" Eleanor gasped, stepping forward with fake maternal concern.
"Don't touch me, Mom," Clara said firmly, pulling her hand away from Eleanor's reach.
"Clara, honey, you have to tell the prosecutor it was an accident! Chloe's entire legal career will be ruined!" Eleanor begged.
"Chloe kicked me while looking me directly in the eyes," Clara revealed, tears of betrayal welling in her eyes.
"She said I didn't deserve Ethan, and that she was going to make sure I lost everything," Clara added softly.
Eleanor froze, her arrogant defense crumbling under the weight of her daughter's direct testimony.
"I am pressing full charges against Chloe, Mom. And I never want to see you or Dad again," Clara declared.
"You're making a huge mistake, Clara! Family comes first!" Eleanor yelled, her face contorting with rage.
Ethan grabbed Eleanor by her arm, guiding her forcefully toward the exit door.
