Chapter 14 - THE DIGITAL TRAIL

"Frank, I need a digital forensics team at my Wall Street office within thirty minutes," Ethan ordered over his phone.
"I'm already on it, Ethan. I picked up a signal from a rogue server in Brooklyn three hours ago," Frank reported.
Ethan met Frank in a dimly lit tech facility near the East River, where rows of servers hummed softly.
"The wire transfer came from a terminal registered to a shell corporation called Vance Holdings," Frank revealed.
"Richard Vance... Marcus Miller's personal cleanup guy," Ethan realized, his jaw tightening with rage.
"They used a cloned biometrics key to bypass your two-factor security," Frank added, pointing at a line of code.
"Can you trace the original IP address where the biometrics were copied?" Ethan asked, leaning over the monitor.
"It leads back to a smart home hub... inside your own living room in Connecticut, Ethan."
Ethan froze as the realization hit him like a physical blow to his chest.
