Chapter 22 - THE SHADOW IN THE BOSTON TRUST

In October, a corporate notification arrived at Ethan’s Wall Street office regarding a silent trust in Boston.
The trust had quietly acquired eight percent of Sterling Financial's public voting shares over three months.
"Who is managing the Boston Trust?" Ethan inquired during an emergency executive meeting.
"The managing trustee is named Eleanor Miller... your mother-in-law!" Chief Financial Officer Smith revealed.
Ethan realized Eleanor was using her remaining hidden assets to attempt a hostile board takeover of his company.
"She’s trying to force a seat on the board of directors to demand a pardon for Chloe," Ethan noted coldly.
"Can she force a vote?" Smith asked nervously, reviewing the shareholder ledgers.
"Not if I exercise my founder's option and buy out the trust's position today," Ethan answered with cold precision.
He authorized a three-hundred-million-dollar buyout, liquidating Eleanor's trust and stripping her of all voting rights.

Eleanor's final attempt to manipulate Ethan had ended in absolute, total financial ruin for her remaining estate.
