Chapter 12 - THE CONSPIRACY AT THE COUNTRY CLUB

Inside an exclusive private room at the Greenwich Country Club, Marcus Miller poured two glasses of scotch.
Sitting across from him was Richard Vance, a notorious corporate fixer known for ruining reputations on Wall Street.
"Ethan Sterling is taking over as senior partner at Sterling Financial next month," Marcus explained bitterly.
"If he proceeds with Chloe's trial, it will destroy my family's social standing in Connecticut," Marcus added.
"What do you want me to do, Marcus?" Vance asked, taking a slow sip of his scotch.
"Find something in Sterling's corporate past... anything that can destroy his credibility before the trial," Marcus growled.
"And if he doesn't have any dirt?" Vance inquired with a dark, sinister smile.
"Then fabricate it," Marcus commanded, dropping a thick envelope of cash onto the glass table between them.
Vance picked up the envelope, pocketing it with a cold nod of agreement.
