Chapter 23 - THE FINAL SEPERATION

Three days later, Eleanor Miller arrived at the gates of Sterling Manor in a rusty rented sedan.
She stood outside the iron gates, looking worn, aged, and completely defeated in a plain rain trench coat.
Ethan walked down the long driveway, stopping at the intercom post to address his mother-in-law.
"Ethan... please... I have nothing left," Eleanor wept through the metal speaker, her voice trembling.
"You tried to destroy my company, Eleanor, just like your daughter tried to destroy my family," Ethan said steadily.
"I'm your family, Ethan! Clara is my daughter!" Eleanor cried out, beating her hands against the iron bars.
"You forfeited your right to be called family the moment you defended a monster," Ethan stated with quiet finality.
"Do not return to this property again, Eleanor. You are a stranger to us now," Ethan added firmly.
He turned his back, walking slowly up the driveway toward the warm light of his home.

Eleanor fell to her knees on the wet pavement outside the gates, weeping alone in the pouring autumn rain.
