Chapter 8 - THE SECRET IN THE LOCKETEleanor looked at the golden heart around Lily's neck.

“Why did you give her this?”
Anna looked at the necklace.
“Because it was the only thing I had left from you.”
Eleanor touched it.
Inside the pendant was a tiny compartment.
Anna slowly opened it.
A small piece of paper was hidden inside.
Eleanor stared.
She recognized the handwriting.
It was her own.
A message she had written for Anna when she was a baby.
No matter what happens, I will always find you.
Eleanor began to cry.
She had given the necklace to Anna years ago.
She had never imagined it would one day lead her back to her daughter.
Anna looked at her.
“I kept it because I knew one day Lily might need it.”
Eleanor looked at Lily.
The girl was watching them quietly.
“Why did you send her to sell flowers?”
Anna looked ashamed.
“We needed money.”
Eleanor immediately shook her head.
“You should have called me.”
Anna smiled sadly.
“I didn't know if you would believe me.”
Eleanor held her daughter tightly.
“I should have found you.”

Anna whispered:
“We both lost twenty years.”
