Chapter 19 - THE LAST SECRETOne afternoon, Anna received a letter.

It was from her father.
A letter written years before his death.
Anna opened it slowly.
Inside, he admitted something.
He had known Anna was innocent.
He had discovered the truth years after she disappeared.
But he had been too ashamed to find her.
He had allowed fear and pride to control him.
Anna read the letter silently.
Then she began to cry.
Eleanor sat beside her.
“Do you hate him?”
Anna thought for a long time.
“No.”
“Why?”
“Because I already lost twenty years to anger.”
Eleanor looked at her.
Anna folded the letter.
“I don't want to lose any more.”
Eleanor hugged her.
Outside, Lily was arranging flowers.
She was laughing.
The sound filled the house.
And Anna finally understood.
