Chapter 6 - The Hidden Recording

Marcus returned to the Whitmore mansion with one question burning in his mind.

Who was standing beside Elena?

The moment he entered the security room, Detective Sarah Collins turned around.

Her expression told him everything.

This was worse than he expected.

“Show me.”

Sarah nodded and pressed play.

The screen flickered.

A hidden camera angle appeared.

Different from the first one.

This camera was placed behind a painting on the far wall.

A place nobody knew existed.

The timestamp appeared.

8:39 PM.

Four minutes before the broken glass.

Marcus leaned closer.

The video showed Elena walking into the living room.

But she wasn’t alone.

A man followed behind her.

Marcus froze.

“No…”

Sarah looked at him.

“You know him?”

Marcus couldn’t answer.

Because the person on the screen was impossible.

It was his own brother.

Victor Whitmore.

His older brother.

The man everyone believed had disappeared five years ago.

Marcus stepped back.

“That can’t be him.”

Sarah paused the video.

“We verified the image.”

“No.”

His voice became sharper.

“Victor is dead.”

Sarah looked at him.

“Are you sure?”

The question hit harder than anything else.

Marcus remembered the funeral.

The closed casket.

The family crying.

The story everyone accepted.

A car accident.

A body nobody saw.

His hands tightened.

“What was he doing with Elena?”

Sarah restarted the footage.

The sound came on.

Victor’s voice filled the room.

“You promised me the documents would be gone.”

Elena crossed her arms.

“I told you I would handle Marcus.”

“You underestimated him.”

“No,” Elena replied coldly.

“I understand him better than anyone.”

Marcus felt his stomach turn.

On the screen, Victor stepped closer.

“And if he finds out?”

Elena smiled.

“He won’t.”

The footage continued.

Then Victor said something that made Marcus stop breathing.

“Once Marcus signs the transfer papers, everything belongs to us.”

Sarah looked at him.

“Transfer papers?”

Marcus stared at the screen.

His family.

His company.

His wife.

Everything he trusted.

It was all connected.

Then the video showed something else.

Elena looked directly toward the hidden camera.

Like she knew it was there.

Marcus stepped closer.

“Impossible.”

Sarah whispered:

“She knew.”

May you like

The screen froze on Elena’s face.

Smiling.
