Chapter 11 - The Room Behind The Wall

The hidden door was covered by years of dust.

Nobody in the Whitmore mansion knew it existed.

Except someone.

Marcus stood in front of the secret room, staring at the old wooden door.

His heart was beating faster than ever.

“Open it,” Detective Sarah said.

The guard inserted the key.

The lock clicked.

The door slowly opened.

A cold wave of air escaped from inside.

The room was small.

Dark.

Filled with old files, photographs, and boxes.

Marcus walked in first.

Every object inside felt like a piece of a life he never knew.

On the wall were photographs.

His father.

Victor.

Elena.

And him.

But one photograph made Marcus stop.

It showed his father shaking hands with someone.

Someone Marcus recognized.

“That's…”

Sarah looked closer.

“Who is that?”

Marcus whispered:

“My mother.”

Everyone became silent.

His mother had died when he was young.

But in the picture, she looked terrified.

Like she was trying to warn someone.

Marcus opened the nearest box.

Inside were hundreds of documents.

Property records.

Private investigations.

Medical files.

And one envelope with his name written on it.

MARCUS WHITMORE.

His hands trembled as he opened it.

Inside was a letter.

His father’s handwriting.

Marcus,

If you are reading this, then everything has already fallen apart.

I spent my life trying to protect you.

But my mistakes created the danger you are facing now.

The biggest lie was not that Victor disappeared.

The biggest lie was who I trusted after that.

Marcus stopped reading.

“Who did he trust?”

Then he saw the final line.

A name.

The name that made everyone freeze.

Elena.

Marcus looked up.

“She was involved from the beginning.”

Suddenly, the lights went out.

The room became completely dark.

A sound came from the hallway.

Footsteps.

Someone was inside the mansion.

Sarah pulled her weapon.

“Everyone stay back.”

The footsteps stopped.

Then a voice whispered:

“You were never supposed to find that room.”

Marcus recognized the voice.

May you like

His blood turned cold.

It was his father.
