Chapter 14 - The Truth Nobody Could Escape

The final documents revealed everything.

The adoption.

The company transfer.

The fake death.

The hidden accounts.

Every lie.

Every betrayal.

Marcus sat silently while Sarah explained.

“Your father created a plan years ago.”

She looked at the papers.

“He wanted to control the company even after giving ownership to you.”

Marcus looked at his father.

“Why?”

His father sighed.

“Because I was afraid.”

“Afraid of what?”

“That you would lose everything.”

Marcus laughed sadly.

“So you destroyed everything first?”

His father had no answer.

Elena stood nearby.

Broken.

For the first time, Marcus saw her without anger.

Only regret.

“I’m sorry.”

Marcus looked at her.

“I believed you.”

“I know.”

“That’s what hurts the most.”

The police escorted Victor’s father away.

Victor stopped beside Marcus.

“I never wanted you hurt.”

Marcus looked at him.

“You still lied.”

“Yes.”

A pause.

“But I was trying to expose the truth.”

Marcus nodded slowly.

Because the truth was complicated.

Nobody was innocent.

Nobody was completely evil.

They were all people who made choices.

And those choices destroyed them.

Months later, the Whitmore mansion was quiet again.

The broken glass table had been replaced.

But the memories remained.

Marcus stood in the living room where everything began.

The camera was still there.

Watching.

Recording.

Waiting.

May you like

Because one thing was certain.

The camera never lied.
