Chapter 13 - The Final Betrayal

The mansion became a battlefield.
Four people stood in the same room.
A father.
Two brothers.
And the woman who had lied to them all.
Marcus looked at his father.
“You let me believe you were dead.”
His father looked down.
“I had no choice.”
“There is always a choice.”
The words hurt.
Because Marcus meant them.
Victor stepped forward.
“You destroyed everyone to protect your secret.”
His father looked at him.
“You have no idea what I sacrificed.”
Victor laughed.
“You sacrificed your family.”
Silence.
Then Sarah interrupted.
“Enough.”
Everyone looked at her.
“I have enough evidence to arrest everyone involved.”
Elena looked shocked.
“You don’t understand.”
Sarah shook her head.
“No. I understand perfectly.”
She held up a flash drive.
“Everything was recorded.”
Marcus looked confused.
“What?”
Sarah explained.
“The hidden camera wasn’t the only one.”
She pointed toward the ceiling.
“The entire mansion security system backed up automatically.”
Elena’s face lost all color.
The same thing she feared.
The camera.
The truth.
Marcus looked at her.
“All this time…”
She whispered:
“I was trying to survive.”
Marcus shook his head.
“No.”
His voice was quiet.
“You were trying to win.”
Suddenly, Marcus’s father grabbed a folder from the table.
“You think this ends here?”
Sarah moved.
“Drop it.”
But he smiled.

Because inside that folder was the final secret.
A secret that could destroy Marcus forever.
