Chapter 3 - The Witness Nobody Expected

The security footage played silently.

The mansion living room appeared on the screen.

Elena walked into view.

Marcus watched carefully.

Adrian entered thirty seconds later.

They were talking.

Arguing.

But there was no sound.

“Turn on the audio,” Marcus said.

Adrian looked at him.

“I tried.”

The sound system clicked.

Static filled the room.

Then voices appeared.

“You don’t understand what you’re doing,” Adrian said.

Elena’s voice followed.

“I understand perfectly.”

Marcus looked at her.

Elena’s face became empty.

The recording continued.

“You think Marcus will never find out?”

Adrian asked.

Elena laughed.

A cold laugh.

“He won’t believe you.”

Marcus felt his chest tighten.

The woman on the screen was not crying.

She was not scared.

She was angry.

Then the footage showed something shocking.

Elena grabbed the glass table.

And pushed.

The entire room went silent.

Nobody moved.

On the screen, Elena deliberately threw herself backward.

Breaking the table.

Creating the scene.

Creating the lie.

Marcus slowly turned toward her.

“Elena…”

Her lips trembled.

“Marcus, wait.”

“No.”

His voice was quiet.

But dangerous.

“You lied.”

She stepped forward.

“You don’t understand.”

“I understand everything.”

Adrian looked at Marcus.

“I told you.”

Marcus ignored him.

His eyes stayed on Elena.

“Why?”

That one word broke her expression.

Because she knew.

The truth was already out.

But before she could answer…

The security system suddenly went black.

The screen turned off.

Everyone froze.

“What happened?” Marcus asked.

Adrian looked toward the control room.

“Someone deleted the backup.”

Marcus stared.

“Someone?”

Adrian nodded.

“Yes.”

Marcus’s face changed.

May you like

Because only one person had access to the system.

Elena.
