Chapter 10 - The Voice From The Grave

Marcus couldn’t speak.

The phone stayed pressed against his ear.

“Dad?”

A slow breath came through the line.

“Yes, Marcus.”

Everyone in the room froze.

Sarah immediately motioned for him to put it on speaker.

Marcus did.

“Where are you?”

The voice answered calmly.

“Somewhere your brother couldn’t find me.”

Victor stepped forward.

“That’s impossible.”

The voice laughed.

“Victor. Still pretending you’re the victim?”

Victor’s face changed.

Marcus looked at him.

“You knew?”

Victor stayed silent.

That silence was enough.

Marcus felt betrayed again.

“You knew he was alive?”

Victor lowered his eyes.

“Not until recently.”

The voice continued.

“Marcus, you need to understand something.”

“Understand what?”

“You are in danger.”

Marcus laughed bitterly.

“From my own family?”

“Yes.”

The answer was immediate.

Then his father said:

“Because Elena and Victor are not the only ones involved.”

Everyone became still.

Marcus looked around.

“Who else?”

A pause.

Then:

“The person standing next to you.”

Marcus turned.

Nobody moved.

Sarah.

Victor.

Elena.

All looked shocked.

Marcus’s voice dropped.

“What are you talking about?”

The phone suddenly disconnected.

Sarah checked the call.

“Impossible.”

“What?”

She looked at the screen.

“The number doesn’t exist.”

Marcus stared.

A dead man had called him.

And somehow…

He had known exactly what was happening inside the mansion.

Then the security alarm sounded again.

A guard’s voice came through:

“Marcus…”

“What?”

“We found another hidden room.”

Marcus looked toward the hallway.

“Where?”

The guard hesitated.

“Behind your father’s old office.”

Marcus walked toward the door.

Slowly.

Because deep inside…

He already knew.

May you like

Whatever was inside that room…

Would destroy everything.
