Chapter 50 - THE MAN IN THE STORAGE UNITDavid was hiding inside an abandoned storage facility.

When I found him, he looked nothing like the confident man from the wedding.
His shirt was stained.
His face was bruised.
Someone had beaten him.
“Who did this?”
He looked at me.
“Preston.”
I didn't move.
“Why?”
“Because I tried to leave.”
I laughed bitterly.
“You helped him frame Sophie.”
“I know.”
“Then why should I care what happens to you?”
David looked down.
“Because I know where he took the original trust documents.”
My heart stopped.
“Where?”
David swallowed.
“Not the hotel.”
“Then where?”
He looked at me.
“Your father's office.”
I stared at him.
“That's impossible. The police searched it.”
“They searched the office.”
He shook his head.
“Not the room beneath it.”
My blood went cold.
“What room?”
May you like
David answered:
“The room my father told us never to enter.”
