Chapter 7 - The Pale MotherSarah stumbled backward, her hands flying to her mouth to stifle a scream as she stared down into the open vault. The woman trapped inside was no stranger—she was Martha Vance, the rightful matriarch and original owner of the entire estate, whom Sarah and David had officially declared two years ago as having "passed away peacefully in a nursing home abroad" while transferring all corporate holdings and bank accounts into their own greedy names.

"Sarah... you wicked, ungrateful girl... you left me down here in the dark to rot..." Martha whimpered, her voice cracking painfully as thick tears tracked through the layers of dirt and grime on her aged, sunken cheeks. Sarah shook her head frantically in denial, backing away from the pit as her elaborate, multi-year web of lies completely collapsed under the weight of reality. The gathered guests gasped in absolute shock, whispering among themselves as they realized the terrifying depths of the depravity hidden beneath the polished facade of the Vance household.
