Chapter 16 - The Berkshire ApproachThe Blackwood Annex—the clandestine facility where Lily had been hidden for years—sat deep within the densely forested hills of the Berkshires, shrouded in a thick, eerie layer of late-afternoon mist.

A high security fence topped with barbed wire and thermal cameras surrounded the perimeter. Two armed guards patrolled the iron gates, their rifles resting casually against their shoulders as they huddled around a portable heater in the guard shack.

They never saw the black tactical SUV glide silently down the unpaved logging road without its headlights.

The vehicle stopped fifty yards from the gate. The doors opened with barely a whisper, and four dark-clad operatives slipped out into the dense underbrush like shadows.

Inside the SUV, Abraham Yates sat in the back seat, staring out the rain-streaked window toward the foreboding brick structure looming through the trees. His fingers tapped a slow, rhythmic cadence against the silver handle of his cane.

Within ninety seconds, the guard shack door swung open as Marcus stepped out, motioning toward the compound.

"Perimeter breached, cameras disabled, and the internal security detail neutralized without a single shot fired," Marcus reported over the secure comm-link as he opened Abraham’s door. "The facility is ours, boss."

Abraham stepped out onto the damp gravel, his heavy wool coat sweeping around his legs as he walked toward the iron gates.

"Let's go find my daughter," he murmured.
