Chapter 11 - The Echoes of the PastThe rain slicked the cobblestones outside the conservatory, casting jagged reflections of the streetlamps against the tall, arched windows. Inside, Abraham Yates stood motionless, his fingers resting lightly against the polished mahogany lid of the grand piano. The chords of the midnight waltz still seemed to vibrate in the timber of the room, a phantom echo of the night his world had shattered seven years ago.

"You're thinking of her again, aren't you?"

The voice belonged to Marcus, his longtime loyal confidant and the shadow who had managed Abraham’s underground legal and security network through every dark turn. Marcus stepped out from the hallway shadows, holding a thick manila folder under his arm.

Abraham didn't turn around at first. He simply stared at the single sheet of music resting on the piano rack—a score written in his daughter Lily's handwriting when she was just nine years old, right before the corporate coup orchestrated by his former partner, Julian Thorne, stripped him of his wealth, his freedom, and his family.

"You don't forget the music that plays when your life is stolen, Marcus," Abraham said softly, his voice a gravelly baritone carrying the weight of a decade of silent suffering. "Julian thought putting me behind bars for a crime I never committed would silence the melody. He didn't realize prison only taught me how to orchestrate a symphony of vengeance."

Marcus placed the manila folder onto the piano bench. "The financial audits for Thorne Industries are complete. Every offshore shell company Julian established in the Cayman Islands has been mapped. The board of directors is already fracturing under the weight of the federal subpoenas we leaked yesterday."

Abraham picked up the folder, his dark eyes narrowing as he flipped through the forensic accounting reports. "Good. But financial ruin is too quick for a man like Julian. He needs to experience the exact same helplessness my daughter felt when they locked her away in that corrupt psychiatric facility."

"What are your orders for tonight?" Marcus asked, stepping back into a posture of crisp military readiness.

"Tonight," Abraham murmured, closing the folder with a sharp snap, "we send a message. Tell the transport team to prepare the vehicle. It's time for the maestro to return to the stage."
