Chapter 13 - The Shattered ToastFor three agonizing seconds, the ballroom was frozen in time. The elite guests stepped backward in unison, clearing a wide circle around the two men as the full realization of who Abraham Yates was—and what his return meant—dawned upon them.

Julian’s jaw twitched. He gripped the edge of a nearby cocktail table to steady his trembling hands.
"Security!" Julian shrieked, his voice cracking with sudden, uncontrolled panic as he pointed a shaking finger at Abraham. "Throw this lunatic out! He's an escaped felon! Arrest him right now!"
Not a single security guard moved.
From the shadows near the entrance, Marcus Hale and four elite tactical operatives stepped forward, their quiet, authoritative presence making it abundantly clear whose orders actually commanded the room.
"There are no guards here who answer to you anymore, Julian," Abraham said smoothly, taking another slow step forward. "Every contract your corporate security firm holds was quietly bought out by my holdings trust this morning. You’re standing on my floor."
Julian looked around the room, realizing with mounting horror that the powerful allies who had toasted him moments ago were now turning their backs, slipping quietly toward the side exits to distance themselves from the sinking ship.
"You... you ruined my life," Julian hissed, stepping out from behind the table, his composure completely dissolving into raw rage. "I took everything from you! The company, the money, your reputation! Why won't you just stay dead?!"

"Because," Abraham replied, his voice dropping into a lethal, quiet whisper, "you forgot the first rule of business, Julian. A true maestro never leaves the stage until the final movement is played. And our waltz has only just begun."
Without waiting for a response, Abraham turned gracefully on his heel and walked out of the ballroom, leaving Julian standing alone amidst the shattered glass of his own hollow empire.
