Chapter 19 - THE WOMAN WHO OPENED HER OWN DOORA year later, Margaret opened a small restaurant.

It was not luxurious.

There were no crystal chandeliers.

No expensive decorations.

Just warm lights.

Simple tables.

And homemade food.

Above the entrance was a sign:

EVERYONE HAS A SEAT HERE.

Clara attended the opening.

Daniel came too.

Margaret stood at the door.

She watched people enter.

A businessman.

A student.

A construction worker.

An elderly couple.

A homeless man.

No one was turned away.

Margaret personally welcomed every guest.

Clara watched her.

“You look happy.”

Margaret smiled.

“I am.”

“Do you miss your old restaurant?”

Margaret thought about it.

“Sometimes.”

Then she looked around.

“But this place is mine.”

Clara smiled.

Margaret had lost a business.

But she had gained something more important.

Her voice.

May you like

Her dignity.

And the courage to open the door for others.
