Daniel read the pages carefully.
He knew the name Victor Hale.
Everyone in the business world did.
Daniel looked at his daughter.
“Where did you find this?”
Clara explained everything.
Daniel was silent.
Then he looked at Margaret.
“Do you have the original documents?”
Margaret shook her head.
“Most were taken.”
“Most?”
Margaret looked nervous.
“There is one thing.”
She reached into her bag.
Inside was an old photograph.
It showed Margaret standing beside Victor many years earlier.
Behind them was a restaurant.
Daniel stared at the photograph.
He recognized the building.
It had once belonged to Margaret.
But now it belonged to Victor.
Daniel looked at the date.
Then he frowned.
“This photograph was taken after the company supposedly changed ownership.”
Margaret nodded.
“That is why I kept it.”
Daniel looked at Clara.
“This could be important.”
