Chapter 14 - THE MAN WHO WANTED THE FILEDaniel quickly closed the folder.
The footsteps grew louder.
Clara looked frightened.
Margaret whispered:
“Victor.”
A man appeared at the top of the stairs.
It was not Victor.
It was his assistant.
He looked at the box.
Then at them.
“You should not have come here.”
Daniel stepped forward.
“Who sent you?”
The man said nothing.
Clara took out her phone.
The assistant immediately turned around.
But Daniel stopped him.
“Wait.”
The man looked back.
Daniel held up the folder.
“Victor sent you to destroy this, didn't he?”
The man's face changed.
That was enough.
Daniel continued.
“You are not the person responsible for what happened.”
The man looked uncertain.
“You can still choose what happens next.”
The assistant stared at the folder.
Then he lowered his eyes.
“I was told to take everything.”
“By Victor?”
The man nodded.
May you like
Margaret closed her eyes.
The truth was finally beginning to speak.
