Emma had always believed the company belonged entirely to her father.
It did not.
Her mother owned a significant portion.
So did Daniel.
That was strange.
Very strange.
Emma examined old documents stored in her father's study.
Then she found something that made her blood run cold.
A transfer agreement.
If Robert died or became incapacitated, control of the company would pass to Evelyn.
And if Evelyn chose to sell her shares—
Daniel would become the largest shareholder.
Emma stared at the document.
The affair was not simply an affair.
There was money involved.
Power.
Control.
She continued searching.
Then she found a second document.
A life insurance policy.
Robert was worth nearly twenty million dollars.
The beneficiary had recently been changed.
From Emma.
To Evelyn.
Emma's hands began to shake.
She took photographs of everything.
Then she heard footsteps in the hallway.
Someone was coming.
Emma quickly returned the papers.
The door opened.
Her mother stood there.
“What are you doing?”
Emma looked at her.
