His laughter.

Then she discovered the truth.
Ethan had been planning to marry Vanessa.
Sophia stood outside the room and heard every word.
“I cannot stay married to Sophia,” Ethan had said.
“She is always sad.”
Vanessa had laughed.
“She is not the woman you need.”
Ethan had answered:
“I know.”
That was the moment Sophia's heart broke.
She had walked away.
The next morning, she went to the doctor.
The ultrasound showed a strong heartbeat.
A boy.
Her son.
Sophia placed one hand over her stomach.
“It's just you and me now.”
She cried.
But she did not call Ethan.
