Chapter 8 - THE FATHER WHO HAD TO LEARNEthan knew how to run a company.

He did not know how to change a diaper.

His first attempt ended with Noah crying.

Ethan panicked.

Sophia watched from the doorway.

“Turn the diaper around.”

He froze.

“What?”

“The other way.”

He looked down.

Then slowly realized his mistake.

Sophia tried not to laugh.

She failed.

Ethan looked at her.

“You could have told me earlier.”

“You looked confident.”

“I was not confident.”

“You certainly looked confident.”

For a moment, they laughed together.

Then the silence returned.

The old kind.

The kind that reminded them of what they had lost.

Ethan began visiting every day.

He never stayed longer than Sophia allowed.

He never demanded anything.

He learned.

How to feed Noah.

How to calm him.

How to recognize his cries.

Months passed.

Ethan never missed a visit.

Not once.

Sophia noticed.

But she refused to let herself hope.

Trust was not rebuilt because a man showed up for a week.

It was rebuilt through years.

And Ethan had many years to prove himself.
