Chapter 7 - FIVE MINUTESSophia saw him.

Their eyes met through the glass.

For several minutes, neither moved.

Then Sophia stepped outside.

“You have five minutes.”

Ethan nodded.

“Thank you.”

He entered the room.

Noah was sleeping peacefully.

Ethan approached the crib.

The moment he saw the baby up close, his entire body trembled.

“My son.”

Sophia remained near the window.

Ethan did not touch the child.

“May I?”

She hesitated.

Then nodded.

He lifted Noah carefully.

The baby stirred.

Ethan held his son against his chest.

Tears fell silently onto the blanket.

“I don't deserve him.”

Sophia answered honestly.

“No.”

Ethan lowered his head.

“But I want to spend the rest of my life trying.”

Sophia looked at him.

For the first time in months, she saw no excuses.

No arrogance.

No anger.

Only regret.

“You don't get to come back because you feel guilty.”

“I know.”

“You don't get to use Noah to get to me.”

“I know.”

“If you want to be his father, prove it.”

Ethan nodded.

May you like

“I will.”

And for the first time, Sophia believed he might actually mean it.
