Lily stood beside him.

Charles noticed.
“Are you hungry?”
She shook her head.
He frowned.
“When did you last eat?”
Lily thought about it.
“Yesterday.”
The room went silent again.
Charles turned toward a waiter.
“Bring food.”
Evelyn suddenly laughed.
“You are making a scene.”
Charles did not look at her.
“Bring everything suitable for a child.”
Lily stared at the table.
There were cakes.
Fruit.
Bread.
Small sandwiches.
She did not move.
Charles sat beside her.
“You can eat.”
She looked at him cautiously.
“Really?”
His chest tightened.
“Yes.”
Lily took a small piece of bread.
Then another.
She ate slowly.
As if someone might suddenly take it away.
Charles watched her.
He had built a company worth billions.
He had negotiated with presidents and billionaires.
But he had never seen anything as painful as a child asking permission to eat.
He turned to his security chief.
“Find Anna.”
“Immediately.”
Evelyn watched from across the room.
Her fingers tightened around her glass.
She had expected Charles to be shocked.
She had not expected him to care.
And that was dangerous.
