Chapter 10 - THE NAME ON THE LEDGERThe investigation uncovered something even worse.

The money from the foundation had not disappeared.
It had been transferred.
Millions of dollars.
Over many years.
The money had gone to a private company.
The company belonged to Evelyn's family.
But there was one problem.
Evelyn had not acted alone.
Charles studied the financial records.
One name appeared repeatedly.
His own brother.
Richard Grant.
Charles stared at the documents.
Richard had been dead for five years.
But the transfers continued after his death.
That meant someone had been using his identity.
Anna looked at the records.
“Who had access to his accounts?”
Charles thought about it.
Then he remembered.
His old family lawyer.
The man who had prepared every major document.
The man who had told Charles Anna had stolen the money.
The man who had encouraged him to cut her off.
Charles picked up his phone.
“Find him.”
The security chief hesitated.
“We already tried.”
“And?”
“He left the country three days ago.”
Charles looked at the financial records.
Three days ago.
The same day Lily arrived.

Someone had known the truth was about to surface.
And they had started running.
