Chapter 16 - WITHDRAW NOAH’S CLAIMRyan didn't open the door.
Daniel stood beneath the porch light and looked directly into the camera.
“I know you're watching.”
Emily stepped beside Ryan.
“What do you want?”
Daniel raised the envelope.
“Withdraw Noah's claim to the trust.”
Ryan's jaw tightened.
“He's a baby.”
“Exactly. He won't miss money he never knew existed.”
Emily moved closer to the intercom.
“And if we don't?”
Daniel placed the envelope on the porch.
“Then your family learns why Noah was never entitled to it.”
He walked away.
Ryan waited until Daniel's car disappeared before retrieving the envelope.
Inside were old photographs, medical records and a signed declaration supposedly written by Ryan's mother.
Emily read it.
Her stomach dropped.
According to the document, Ryan's mother had admitted to an affair shortly before Ryan was conceived.
The final sentence was devastating.
William Carter is not Ryan's biological father.
Ryan sat down.
“If that's true…”
Emily understood.
Ryan wouldn't legally be William's biological descendant.
And Noah's multimillion-dollar claim could disappear.
Ryan looked defeated.
“Let Daniel have the money.”
Emily stared at him.
“No.”
“Emily—”
“He came to our home and threatened our son.”
