Approximately $4.2 million had been reserved for William's legally recognized descendants.
That potentially included Noah.
Ryan immediately shook his head.
“I don't want his money.”
“It isn't your money,” Claire replied. “If Noah is entitled to it, it's Noah's.”
Emily watched Ryan.
Another part of his past had entered their son's life without warning.
Then Claire revealed something worse.
Before Noah was born, someone contacted the trust administrators and warned them that Ryan's marriage to Emily might not be legally valid because his divorce from Natalie had never been finalized.
The claim had been frozen.
Emily felt sick.
“Who contacted them?”
Claire placed the document on the table.
Ryan leaned closer.
His expression hardened.
At the bottom was Steven Maddox's name.
But beside Steven's correspondence was another name Emily had never heard.
Daniel Carter.
She looked at Ryan.
“Who's Daniel?”
Ryan didn't answer immediately.
Emily recognized that silence.
“Ryan.”
