Chapter 6 - A STORM OF SECRETS"Security breach at Gate 3," Julian’s voice squawked through Victoria's earpiece. "Ma'am, get inside immediately!"

Ethan instantly stood up, pulling Victoria behind him. "Where is Maya?"
"She's inside sleeping with her nurse," Victoria said, panic lacing her voice.
Shadows moved swiftly through the trees surrounding the estate. Three armed men in black tactical gear broke through the perimeter, bypassing the outer sensors. Richard had realized Victoria was preparing to crash the Friday shareholder meeting and had sent professionals to ensure she never made it.
"Inside! Now!" Ethan barked, grabbing Victoria’s wrist and pulling her toward the reinforced heavy doors of the main house.
A silenced gunshot cracked through the night air, striking the wooden pillar inches from Ethan’s head. Splinters flew everywhere. Ethan didn't flinch; his military training—a past he rarely spoke of—kicked in instinctively.
He tackled Victoria to the deck floor as another shot broke the glass door behind them. Crawling quickly, they made it inside the hallway, slamming the heavy reinforced deadbolts shut.
"You have a panic room?" Ethan asked, his eyes sharp, scanning the layout.
"In the master bedroom basement," Victoria panted, her heart hammering against her ribs.
"Take Maya and go there. Lock it from the inside," Ethan commanded, grabbing a heavy brass fireplace poker from the hearth.
"What about you?!" Victoria cried, clutching his arm. "I won't leave you!"

"I'll secure the lower entrance and draw them away from the panic room. Go, Victoria! Protect Maya!"
Victoria looked into Ethan’s fiery, resolute eyes. She nodded, tears brimming, kissed his cheek impulsively, and ran toward Maya’s room.
