Chapter 15 - The Unspoken Shift|

That evening, after Sophia and Clara had gone to sleep, the estate fell into a tranquil, heavy quiet.
Luca sat in his private study on the second floor, reviewing the legal transfer documents that officially assigned Salvatore's former dock concessions and real estate holdings to a trust in Hannah and Clara's names.
A soft knock sounded at the door.
Hannah stepped inside, wearing a soft cream cashmere sweater and trousers, holding two cups of warm tea.
She walked over to his desk, setting one cup on his leather blotter, sitting down in the leather armchair across from him.
"You gave my sister and me forty million dollars in dock concessions, Luca," Hannah said softly, looking at the documents on his desk. "It's too much."
Luca set his pen down, leaning back in his leather chair, looking at her with a quiet, intense warmth.
"It isn't enough, Hannah," Luca said softly. "It doesn't replace three years of pain. It doesn't bring your father back. But it ensures that you and Clara will never have to work a late shift at a diner again."
Hannah looked down at her hands, a faint blush rising on her cheeks. "I didn't mind the diner."
"I minded," Luca murmured, standing up from his desk and walking around the mahogany table until he stood in front of her chair.
He extended his hand to her.
Hannah looked at his broad, calloused palm, then placed her small, warm fingers in his.
Luca pulled her up gently, closing the distance between them until her body was pressed against his broad frame. His scent—cedarwood, rain, and expensive leather—wrapped around her senses like a warm blanket.
"I spent three years living in the dark, Hannah," Luca whispered, his hand gently framing her cheek, his thumb tracing her lower lip. "You brought the light back into this house. You brought my daughter back to life."

"Luca..." she breathed out, her heart hammering wild against her ribs.
"I love you, Hannah," Luca confessed rasply.
