Chapter 5 - THE PARADE STOPSThe chairman ordered the parade to continue.

But Ethan stepped toward the front of Addie's wheelchair.
“Wait.”
The marching band stopped.
The crowd became silent.
The chairman frowned.
“You can't interrupt the parade.”
Ethan looked at him.
“Then don't.”
The chairman blinked.
“What?”
Ethan pointed toward Addie.
“Let her go first.”
The chairman laughed nervously.
“You can't be serious.”
Ethan turned toward the crowd.
Then he spoke loudly enough for everyone to hear.
“This little girl spent months preparing for today.”
He looked back at the chairman.
“She has every right to be here.”
The crowd began to clap.
Addie looked at her father.
Daniel had tears in his eyes.
