Chapter 2 - THE REJECTIONDaniel stared at the man.

“Why not?”

The man glanced at the wheelchair.

“It's not part of the official parade design.”

Daniel looked at the dozens of decorated vehicles around them.

“There are tractors, motorcycles, golf carts, and floats.”

The man shrugged.

“Those were approved.”

Addie looked down at the blue ribbon tied to her wheelchair.

“But I decorated it.”

The man sighed.

“I'm sure you did. But this parade has standards.”

Daniel’s jaw tightened.

“What standard does my daughter fail to meet?”

The man didn't answer.

Instead, he looked toward the growing crowd.

“Please move aside. The parade needs to get organized.”

Addie quietly turned her wheelchair around.

Her father placed a hand on her shoulder.

“Addie…”

“It's okay, Dad.”

May you like

But it wasn't.

And everyone could see it.
