Chapter 3 - The Sabotage|

Dominic felt as if the hospital corridor had tilted on its axis.
"What did you say?" Dominic asked, his grip tightening on the doctor's scrub top.
"The police are already down in the garage," Dr. Aris replied, pulling away from Dominic's hands. "The preliminary report from the crash scene showed that the hydraulic brake lines on Mrs. Vescari’s sedan were cleanly severed before she hit the bridge."
Dominic turned his head slowly to look at Celeste.
She had backed up two paces against the tiled wall, her face pale as milk, her knuckles white around her handbag.
"Dominic... don't look at me like that," she stammered, her voice shaking uncontrollably. "You don't think... you can't possibly think I had anything to do with this!"
Dominic didn't answer her. He pulled out his encrypted satellite phone and hit speed dial one.
"Rocco," Dominic spoke into the receiver, his tone dropping into a terrifyingly quiet pitch. "Bring four men to the NICU at Saint Mercy’s immediately. Lock down the third floor. Nobody enters or leaves without my personal approval."
"Boss?" Rocco’s deep voice answered. "What about the crash?"
"It wasn't an accident," Dominic growled. "Someone tried to murder my wife and my child. Find out who serviced Mara’s car in Halston."
He clicked the phone off and turned back to Celeste, taking three deliberate steps toward her until his shadow completely engulfed her.
"Where were you at four o'clock this afternoon, Celeste?"

"I was at the spa!" she shrieked, tears springing to her eyes. "You can check the cameras! Dominic, I love you! I've stayed by your side for eight months while she hid from you!"
"She hid from me," Dominic whispered, his gray eyes turning to liquid ice, "because she was protecting my heir from the snakes in my house."
