Chapter 30 - The Lesson of Hawthorne MansionDecades later, a new generation of staff and visitors walked through the grand entrance hall of Hawthorne Mansion.

Enclosed in a glass case beside the grand marble staircase hung a simple, scratched wooden cane, lit by a soft, warm spotlight. Beneath it was a small brass plaque engraved with words that every visitor stopped to read:

"Respect is never measured by wealth, titles, or expensive clothes. It is measured by how you treat those who cannot defend themselves."

And whenever young workers felt intimidated or small, they would look at the wooden cane, remembering the story of a humble maid who refused to step away—and changed the world around her through pure courage and loyalty.
