Chapter 11 - The Gala InvitationA week later, the annual City Charity Gala was held at the Grand Hotel. It was an event where the city's most influential figures gathered.
Alexander attended alongside his mother and Sarah, who was dressed in a simple yet elegant navy blue gown. Sarah felt nervous among the high-society crowd, but Eleanor kept her close.
"Remember, Sarah," Eleanor whispered as they entered the ballroom, "dignity comes from within, not from the price tag on your dress."
Across the crowded room, hidden behind a stone pillar, Richard watched them closely. He motioned to a waiter carrying a tray of champagne glasses.
