Chapter 20 - A Promise KeptYears have passed since the night I pulled Lily’s red craft box down from the closet shelf.

That crushed cardboard box with peeling tape still sits in my study—not as a reminder of terror, but as a monument to my daughter’s bravery and the truth that saved us all.

Now, as I sit on the porch watching Lily study for her college entrance exams and Owen kick a soccer ball across the green lawn, peace fills every corner of my soul. I kept my promise to Emily. I brought our children out of the dark and into the light.

And no matter what challenges the future holds, I know one thing with absolute certainty: my hand will always be there to hold theirs, and no shadow will ever touch them again.
