I purchased a smaller house by the coast, surrounded by bright sunshine, a wide lawn, and the soothing sound of ocean waves every morning. I wanted my children to live in a completely fresh environment, far removed from the shadows of the past.
Mrs. Alvarez chose to come with us, becoming our house manager and a second grandmother to the children.
On the day we moved in, Owen ran freely across the sand, his bright, clear laughter echoing through the coastal breeze. Lily stood beside me, her hair blowing gently in the wind.
"Daddy," Lily called softly, pulling on my sleeve.
"Yes, sweetheart?"

I pulled my daughter close, tears welling up in my eyes: "Yes, my love. Your mom is so happy seeing you smile."
